Lake Copan
Lake Copan is formed by the damming of the Little Caney River which originates about three miles north of Caney, Kansas which is just north of the Kansas-Oklahoma border. This lake was constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers between 1972 and 1983 to aid Hulah Lake in controlling flooding along the Caney River Valley. The Little Caney River then flows onward to join the Caney River three miles downstream of Copan Dam.
