Washington County, OK

This was the site of a trading post owned by John McFall, who established a post office here in 1890. McFall was feeding his hogs in 1899 when one bit him and gave him blood poisoning. His leg had to be amputated with an ordinary saw and was buried in its own little box in his backyard. The post office was moved to Vera in 1899, and McFall moved to Ramona where he served as mayor, school board president, and postmaster.
